Character Name: Reno
Occupation: Administrative Research Field Agent (Turk)
Appearance: Tall and lanky, Reno is on the lean side, and some might even accuse him of being “wiry.” One fight with him would betray his strength, however, and certainly define him as being far more than your average street thug. His most distinctive feature is his bright red hair, worn spiked in the front and trailing down his back in a ponytail. Two symmetrical, red streaks mar his cheeks, the tattoos permanent testaments of his early life on the rough streets of the Midgar slums. Reno is usually in some state of disheveled, and the condition of his uniform rarely approaches the vicinity of pristine.
Background: Reno grew up in the Sector 6 slums, just outside the Wall Market area. A typical story for a child of the slums: his father was an alcoholic who spent too much time at the Honeybee. He never knew who his mother was. He learned street smarts out of necessity at far too young an age, needing to defend himself at home as much as on the streets. Often he simply camped out in secluded spots he found, finding more peace amidst the grime and darkness of back alleys than at home with the constant onslaught of criticism and hurled glass bottles. Joining a gang was the obvious (and only) choice for someone in Reno’s position, but he was a quick learner and by fifteen ‘Reno’ was a name well known on the streets. Agile, accurate, and deadly when wielding one of his preferred blunt metal weapons, he was considered a formidable enemy by any who had the guts to oppose him. Rumor had it that Reno had absolutely no fear of death or injury, which added a reckless, crazed edge to his fighting style and caused many would-be foes to think twice before crossing him. Within a few years, his gang had begun pulling jobs farther and farther from their home turf, which lead to Reno being noticed and eventually recruited by the Turks.
Personality: Reno is cocky, sarcastic, and less than careful with his own well-being. He has a taste for conflict and danger, and a confidence in his own abilities that often gives him the upper hand in a hostile situation. Reno speaks his mind, usually in a tone loud enough to wake the neighbors, and he censors himself for no one. Cause for many a headache amongst his superiors, he has a knack for getting into trouble as a child might, and frequently things break, go missing, or spontaneously combust when Reno is around. He is good at his job, though, and takes pride in the work that he does, his recklessness during battle translating into the lack of fear required to be a successful Turk. Due to his gang background, Reno is also extremely loyal, and merciless when it comes to enemies of the ShinRa corporation. Simply put: when ShinRa says jump, Reno asks who he needs to take down with him as he goes over the edge.
Strengths: His lean frame gives him the agility needed to get out of many tight situations. If it has a motor, he can probably drive it like a pro racer, and fix it too, provided he doesn’t blow it up first. He can also drink you under the table.
Weaknesses: Due to many occasions of proving his ability to drink you under the table, Reno has issues with mornings and is therefore seen quite regularly dragging himself into the office late, sometimes in various forms of undress. He can be overtly nihilistic at times, and is far better with a weapon than in straight up hand-to-hand combat.
Weapon(s)/Materia/Limits: After he was recruited, ShinRa provided him with the snazzy EMR which he is now rarely seen without. Occasionally he’ll go old school though, and pick up a lead pipe or a baseball bat. His EMR is always equipped with Thunder materia, and he seldom goes without some form of Cure, as prone to injury as he is. Piss him off enough, and he will not hesitate to shove that electric rod into places where the sun don’t shine.
